With over 25 years at Miller Hull, Mike has been a Design Principal on a range of projects, specializing in civic buildings and community placemaking projects including the Del Mar Civic Center and The Port of Seattle’s Maritime Innovation Center. His experience with framework planning is evident in the urban design principles he brings to well-loved public spaces where all are welcome and civic identity is formed through the ritual of public gatherings.
Stepping into a process spanning three decades and two previous designs for the Del Mar Civic Center, Mike led a series of community listening and outreach events to build consesus and tailor the Center's indoor and outdoor spaces to complement and extend Del Mar's public realm overlooking the Pacific. By reflecting this small community's ways of gathering, the proposal was able to gain broad approval and was completed in 2019.
