North Torrey Pines Living and Learning Neighborhood is an interdisciplinary district created for UC San Diego’s Sixth College, marking the university’s first effort to combine high‑density student housing with academic facilities on a single integrated site. Spanning eleven acres and 1.6 million square feet, the project establishes a true campus‑within‑a‑campus, blending residential communities with academic buildings, dining facilities, lecture halls, meeting rooms, retail spaces, and curated public art installations.
A network of landscaped areas serves as an organizing framework, introducing a park‑like openness while connecting the various program elements. The project also incorporates a comprehensive set of sustainable design strategies that contributed to its LEED Platinum certification and recognition with an AIA COTE Top Ten Award.
Submitted for AIA CES approval.
