Rod has over 25 years of contracting experience specializing in flood damage recovery and historic structures. Rod has personally worked on all phases of over 1,500 flood hazard mitigation/elevation projects and is a historic building specialist. In 2020 Rod lead a group of private sector companies create the Flood Mitigation Industry Association – FMIA(501c3) nonprofit organization and is serving as Board Chair.
Rod has experience in education development programs, project management, assessment and estimating services for flood mitigation projects. In 2014 Rod won the ASFPM National Flood Proofing Award “Elevation 101” program. In 2018 Rod developed the “Steps to Elevation – STE” for property owners. In 2024, the FMIA received a $6.9 million NOAA “Climate Ready Workforce” grant to develop the curriculum for classroom and labs, for structural elevation and wet/dry flood proofing apprentice workforce development for the industry.
