David Odeh is a Senior Vice President and National Director of Building Structures at WSP in the USA. In this role he leads a group of over 250 structural engineers working on complex building design projects around the globe. He has over 30 years of experience in the structural design and analysis of building structures of all types, with particular emphasis on the application of digital design technology to structural engineering.
David served on the adjunct faculty of the School of Engineering at Brown University for 18 years, and taught courses in structural design and analysis. He regularly lectures at other universities, most recently at Northwestern University and the University of Cincinnati, and at professional conferences. He has published numerous articles in engineering conference proceedings and engineering journals on diverse topics including conceptual design of structures, application of building information technology, and design for natural hazard resiliency.
David has served in numerous volunteer leadership roles at the American Society of Civil Engineers, including as a member of its board of direction (2018-21) and president of the Structural Engineering Institute (2016-17). He currently serves on the ASCE Industry Leaders Council, and is deeply involved in the Future World Vision initiative. He was a technical advisor to the new film "Cities of the Future" on its computer graphics simulations of resilient and adaptable future cities.
