Mickey Howley is a passionate advocate for historic preservation and community revitalization. A native New Orleanian, Howley’s work for decades has been mainly in small and seemingly forgotten places across Mississippi, bringing business and social life back to historic commercial downtowns. His transformative work in Water Valley, Mississippi, led to national recognition with the National Main Street, the National Trust for Historic Preservation and more. His work has been featured in the New York Times, Die Zeit, and Preservation Magazine. He has presented at numerous national conferences and, most notably, at the White House Convening on Rural Placemaking in Washington, DC.
