Stacy Shewell is an Owner Advisor with more than 15 years of experience in the construction industry, focused on Progressive Design‑Build (PDB) and alternative delivery. She holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Architecture, providing a strong foundation in design process, project development, and interdisciplinary coordination that informs her work advising owners.
Over the course of her career, Stacy has supported 36 alternative delivery projects, including 25 Progressive Design‑Build efforts, representing more than $2 billion in total project value. She has worked with 21 public owners implementing Design‑Build for the first time, helping them understand delivery options, establish appropriate governance structures, and navigate the practical realities of Design‑Build procurement and execution.
Stacy’s experience provides a clear view into the evolving role of the Owner Advisor, how it interfaces with designers and builders, where it adds value, and how it supports alignment among project participants. Her work emphasizes clarity of roles, decision‑making frameworks, and early collaboration during phases when scope, performance criteria, and cost are still being defined.
In addition to her project roles, Stacy is a long‑time DBIA Northwest Region Board member and current Treasurer, and serves as a Subcommittee Co‑Chair of the DBIA National Owner Advisor Committee, where she contributes to developing guidance and standards for the Owner Advisor role nationwide.
Through her project experience and industry leadership, Stacy offers a practical perspective on the Owner Advisor as an emerging practice area and a source of new professional growth within the Design‑Build environment.
