Wellbe Bartsma, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP BD+C is an Associate at Gensler Las Vegas, specializing in hospitality, resort, and urban high-rise design. His professional work examines the integration of emerging digital technologies into architectural practice, with a focus on how artificial intelligence is influencing design processes, firm operations, and professional accountability.
Wellbe represents Nevada on the AIA Strategic Council, where he contributes to national research on artificial intelligence in architecture. His work explores ethical frameworks for AI adoption, the environmental and energy implications of digital systems, and their impact on equity, business models, and practitioner well-being. He brings a practice-based perspective to understanding how technological innovation can be aligned with public trust, authorship, and long-term resilience in the built environment.
He holds degrees from Washington State University and the Illinois Institute of Technology and has served in multiple AIA leadership roles, including Emerging Professionals Director for AIA Las Vegas and Nevada’s Young Architects Forum Representative. Wellbe was recognized with the 2024 AIA Nevada Young Architect Award for his contributions to design leadership and professional advocacy.
