John Sheehan, FAIA, is a native of the Golden State – born in San Francisco and raised in Southern California. He earned his bachelor’s degree at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo and a Graduate Design Diploma from the Architectural Association in London. John worked at various offices in Boston prior to co-founding Studio E Architects in San Diego.
His career-long interest in affordable housing led to his research into Irving Gill’s early 20th-century work in that arena. John has lectured on Gill’s work and written about many projects that went missing from the records. Recently, John was invited to become a founding board member of a new nonprofit that will organize the restoration and reuse of a 1909 Gill home as a programmed cultural asset.
