Michelle Cohn joined NCARB in 2014 and now serves as the Assistant Vice President, Programs: Assessments, in which she leads the ongoing development, maintenance, and security of the Architectural Experience Program® (AXP®) and the Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®). She and her team support nearly 200 volunteers on experience- and exam-related committees, providing training and guidance to ensure current programs remain relevant and valid, and future programs are developed to meet the needs of an evolving profession while maintaining appropriate rigor.
Prior to joining NCARB, Michelle worked for 14 years as a designer, architect, and project manager at architectural firms in the DC area. Her work included institutional, mixed-use, residential, and affordable housing projects across all phases of design and construction. Michelle earned a Master of Architecture degree from Tulane University and is a licensed architect in Washington, DC. She is a member of the American Institute of Architects and holds the NCARB Certificate for national reciprocity. She has also earned the Project Management Professional and Institute for Credentialing Excellence Certified Credentialing Professional designations.
