Rand Ekman, FAIA, LEED Fellow, has a passion both for projects and for driving broad-based, measurable change in practice. Rand’s most recent professional role was Partner and Chief Sustainability Officer at HKS where he formed HKS’ approach to Environmental, Social & Governance bringing together firmwide leadership advancing sustainability, public interest design, and social equity, diversity, and inclusion. He has a bachelor’s in philosophy and a master’s in architecture. Rand was 2012 AIA Chicago President, and 2015 AIA National COTE Chair. He continues to be involved in the AIA’s 2030 Commitment, is currently Board member of Architecture 2030 and has beeen a Board member of the Health Product Declaration Collaborative and Mindful Materials. Through the yeaars, he has served on many local and national USGBC committees.
