Laura Lesniewski, FAIA

As an architect who brings a spirit of collaboration and stewardship to her work, Laura Lesniewski, FAIA, pursues the highest levels of sustainability to build thriving communities. She’ll moderate a conversation on selling sustainable design with Antoine Bryant, Assoc. AIA, and Kim Yao, AIA.

Laura Lesniewski, FAIA, is a principal at BNIM, where she led the team for the Living Building-certified Omega Center for Sustainable Living and has been engaged with communities in Montreal and update New York focused on zero-carbon regenerative futures. She is honored to be co-leading the design of a high school campus in West Pokot, Kenya, recognized in 2019 with a COTE Top Ten award. She has engaged with disaster recovery efforts across the country as part of BNIM’s planning team and more recently has managed projects overseas with the U.S. Department of State, emphasizing design excellence and eco-diplomacy.

She is a long supporter of Habitat for Humanity and a current board member of the Westside Housing Organization focused on housing, health, energy, and equity. Laura has been engaged with AIA Kansas City over the past fifteen years in a number of capacities, including as a three-year board director and as president in 2014. She served as the Central States Region representative on the AIA Strategic Council from 2018 to 2020. She graduated from MIT with a Bachelor of Science in Art and Design and with a Master of Architecture degree from U.C. Berkeley. Laura is both LEED and WELL accredited.
