This interactive workshop will introduce a research-based, open-source card deck that gamifies project goal setting. Join us to discover how project teams can cut through complexity and align around shared goals.
Grounded in goal-setting theory and the AIA Framework for Design Excellence, the cards create a common language among clients, designers, and stakeholders, helping teams prioritize issues that impact equity, resilience, health, and carbon outcomes. You'll have the opportunity to practice using the tool in small groups with example projects, gaining both facilitation skills and free access to the deck for immediate use in your own work.
Learning Objectives
- See how clear, specific, and actionable goals improve project performance by aligning teams, engaging clients, and addressing critical outcomes of equity, health, resilience, and carbon.
- Leverage goal-setting theory and real project case studies to evaluate how early alignment drives design decisions and measurable performance results.
- Practice facilitation techniques using the card deck through small-group exercises that simulate stakeholder discussions and project prioritization.
- Integrate goal-setting strategies into professional practice by adapting the tool to project planning, client engagement, and team alignment in support of the AIA Framework for Design Excellence.
