Employing Climate Resilience Strategies to Design for Survival

Resilience is no longer optional—it's about the survival of our projects, our communities, and our profession.

This session will explore how to anticipate hazards such as flooding, heat, and wildfires and to translate data into design strategies that safeguard public health and building performance. Through case studies, you'll learn how risk assessment informs design decisions and client conversations.

While the Climate Risk Factsheet Tool will be referenced as one example of integrating risk awareness, the presenters will focus on actionable strategies aligned with LEED v5 and Health, Safety, & Welfare outcomes.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify key climate hazards and their design implications.
  2. Apply risk assessment strategies to inform design decisions.
  3. Communicate resilience value to clients effectively
  4. Incorporate resilience strategies aligned with LEED v5 and HSW outcomes
