Past, Present & Future at Harvard University’s Allston Campus

Join the AIA Committee on Design for a tour of new and emerging institutional and commercial development within Harvard University's 358-acre land holdings in Allston, located across the Charles River from the Cambridge campus. 

The tour will begin within the recently completed Science and Engineering Complex (SEC) with an overview of Harvard's plans for the Allston campus presented by Harvard's chief of university planning and design along with a representative from the Harvard Allston Land Company. Tour attendees will then rotate through various components, including tours of the SEC, the surrounding landscape, and select projects under construction.

  1. Gain insights into the existing contextual and future development plans for Harvard's Allston campus.
  2. Discuss key elements and essential qualities in successful multidisciplinary collaboration needed for repositioning a district, area, or neighborhood to spur growth or enhance development.
  3. Consider long-range planning approaches to engage university users in a new type of context.
  4. Explore how the Allston campus enhances Harvard's mission and educational experience
