June 8: Ruth Carter

Academy Award-winning costume designer Ruth Carter is most well-known for her work on Marvel’s blockbuster film Black Panther, where she made history as the first Black person to win in the category. Her career in film and television spans over three decades, collaborating with prolific directors like Spike Lee, Steven Spielberg, and Ava DuVernay. Ruth’s work is a testament to the power of representation and storytelling in design—retraining the eye to see the beauty and humanity of the Black experience.

 

June 7: Dr. Sanjay Gupta

As CNN’s Chief Medical Correspondent, Dr. Sanjay Gupta plays an integral role in reporting on health and medical news domestically and internationally. Since 2001, Gupta has covered some of the world’s most important public health and safety stories, including the COVID-19 pandemic—reaffirming his role as a trusted guide to millions of viewers navigating between facts and fiction. He is also an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at Emory University, an Associate Chief of Neurosurgery at Grady Memorial Hospital, a diplomat of the American Board of Neurosurgery, and an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine.

As our Keynote Emcee, she’ll host the keynote experience, introducing each day’s topics, big ideas, and speakers.
