Darguin Fortuna, AIA, NCARB

Darguin Fortuna is an award-winning architect, educator, and entrepreneur, recognized for his leadership in residential architecture and advocacy for small firms. He is the Founding Principal of Flow Design Architects, a Massachusetts-based firm with an expanded presence in the Dominican Republic.

A leader in the architectural community, Fortuna was recently elected Chair-Elect for the AIA Small Firm Exchange (SFx) for 2026, where he will advocate for small firm interests, business growth, and industry innovation on a national scale. He is also the recipient of the 2024 AIA Young Architect Award, making history as the first Dominican-born architect to receive this recognition in Washington, DC.

Fortuna is deeply committed to mentorship and education. Since 2012, he has served as an adjunct professor at the Boston Architectural College, shaping the next generation of architects. His passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion is reflected in his leadership roles, including Young Architect Representative for Massachusetts, NCARB Licensing Advisor, and board member of the AIA Small Firm Exchange for Massachusetts.

His work has earned widespread recognition, including the Boston Magazine Rising Star Award and the AIA Film Challenge People’s Choice Award for his film The Change We Seek. Through his practice and advocacy, Fortuna continues to drive meaningful change in architecture, focusing on sustainability, accessibility, and long-term impact in the built environment.
